Research Design in Clinical Psychology

Abstract

The purpose of this book is to describe and explain research methods used in clinical psychology, but the issues and methods are relevant to many other areas as well, such as counseling, educational, health, and school psychology, psychiatry, social work, and nursing. Each of these areas encompasses theory, research, and application. Consequently, many of the methodological options and challenges are shared. The book elaborates the methods of conducting research and the broad range of designs and practices for developing a sound knowledge base. The intended audiences are individuals who design and conduct research and who read research reports and wish to discern what can and cannot be concluded based on how that research was conducted.
